How does the counselor know s/he is dealing with the person assigned
to the program?
Each student is assigned a password which is used to gain access to
the online program. However, what will really determine who the counselor
is dealing with is the writing style of the individual. Teachers learn
to identify their student's writing styles. Counselors will be trained
to do the same thing. Each student has a unique presentation that is
indicative of their personal writing style. Counselors will be able
to use transcripts of previous sessions to make this comparison and
determine with near certainty if the author is the same.
Who else uses the program?
Choose 2 Change's program is accepted by the States of Michigan, Tennessee
and Minnesota in their first offender counseling programs for Driving
Under the Influence (DUI).
Counselors in Florida, California and Tennessee have used the program
as a private outpatient substance abuse counseling service.

Do students purchase one session at a time or do they have to commit
to a certain amount?

must be paid for in advance of services. If the student desires, any
number of sessions may be paid for in advance.
Are there any guaranteed outcomes?
Unfortunately, no. Outcomes in any counseling setting are dependent
on the receptivity of the student and the student's willingness to apply
the insights to his or her life situation.
If the program is conducted exclusively online how can the student
be certain the counselor is who s/he says s/he is?
Students will be provided with the State of California's licensing
website. There they can find their counselor's name and mailing address.
Using this information they can write to the counselor to verify the
counselor is the individual working with the student.
How does the student dealing with an emergency contact his/her counselor?
Students will be provided with the counselor's office telephone number.
If the counselor believes there is reason to go beyond this then they
will make appropriate provisions with the student. If the student abuses
the counselor phone service, the counselor may charge the student their
regular office fee.
