Disadvantages of Online Counseling!

Online substance abuse counseling does have its limitations.

DISADVANTAGES
* Health insurance coverage is generally NOT available for online consultation.
* Online counselors cannot provide direct help in a crisis.
* Medication cannot be prescribed.
* If the assigned counselor is subpoenaed to appear in court, the cost per hour, including travel time (if driving) and on location is $75 and mileage is charged at the standard IRS rate. If the proceedings are not within driving distance, the requesting entity is also responsible for travel costs and accommodations.

ONLINE COUNSELING IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CERTAIN PEOPLE
* If you want to hurt or kill yourself
* If you want to hurt or kill someone else
* If you have a history of hurting yourself
* If you have been hospitalized for mental illness
* If you are profoundly depressed or very anxious and having panic attacks indicating you are not medically stabilized
* If you hear voices or believe others are talking about you
* If you are a current face-to-face private client and have not advised your counselor that you are seeking additional help
* If you are under 18 years old without parental consent
