Choose 2 Change's Online Counseling program offers an opportunity
for at-risk students to receive professional counseling services.
Schools can provide their at-risk students opportunities to improve
their decision making skills. Early intervention is likely to
help the student to redirect his/her energies into productive
rather then destructive behaviors. This can result in improving
the campus quality of life and reduce the need for future disciplinary
actions. The Online Counseling program seeks to benefit the students,
their schools and society in general.
Counseling Objective: The overarching goal is to provide
these students opportunities to examine and improve their decision
making processes and to take responsibility for their actions,
helping them improve their well-being and their ability transition
back into the mainstream of the public school system.
How It's Done: Our counselors tailor counseling to match
the needs of each student. The counselor works with students individually
on a weekly basis. Through the use of our online counsleling process,
the counselor challenges students to examine the behavioral, social,
and emotional issues needed to improve their overall well-being.
Counseling goals are addressed in many different ways including
various therapy modalities including reality, rational-emotive,
solution-oriented, cognitive developmental framework, and narrative
therapy.
Without exception, our counselors are either Llicensed Marriage
Family Therapists (MFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW).
School funds are not needed to operate and manage the program.
Students and/or their families are responsible for meeting their
financial obligations for counseling.
With written permission of the student's parent or guardian,
Choose 2 Change will send regular progress reports (frequency
to be determined by school officials) to a designated school employee.
The reports will include the number of sessions the student completed,
the title of the session(s) and the date the session(s) were completed.
To preserve privacy and expedite the school's handling of the
information, student records will be sent separately. This will
allow the designated school employee to post the information directly
to the student's file.
